About Me

My Name is Adam; I'm 31 years old (in 2014), and I'm a runner. After battling a nagging Achilles pain for several years, I finally decided to have surgery to get it repaired. This blog is meant to chronicle my journey leading up to the surgery, the surgery (July 1, 2014), and the recovery. My goal is to eventually run and train pain free, and ultimately run PRs. Prior my diagnosis, I had run a 2:47 marathon (Chicago 2014). Some other PRs include 5k=15:26 (2005), 5 mile=25:42 (2008).

I was diagnosed with an Achilles tear via an MRI. Additional diagnosis included lateral retrocalcaneal bursitis with mild tendinopathy. Operative treatment was...right haglund resection, right secondary repair Achilles with debridement and reattachment.
